Web page to PDF
URL to PDF converter
Enter the address of a public web page and download it as a PDF. No sign-up is needed to try it.
Output settings
Page width and height
Both are set in pixels. Use a width close to a desktop viewport (1280 px) to keep a desktop layout, or a narrower one for a mobile-style page.
Landscape
Switch orientation for wide pages and tables.
Background colors and images
On by default, so page backgrounds appear in the PDF. Turn it off for a lighter, printer-friendly document.
File name
The name given to the downloaded file. .pdf is added if you leave it off.
How URL rendering works
When you submit a URL, we check that it is a public http or https address, then a headless browser loads the page and prints it to PDF. Because a browser engine renders the page, CSS layout, web fonts and images are applied the way they would be in a browser.
The page is captured as it appears to an anonymous visitor. Anything that needs a login, a cookie you hold, or a specific location is not part of the request.
Safety checks. We reject localhost, private and reserved IP ranges, credentials in the URL, non-web protocols and non-standard ports before a page is requested.
Use it from code
curl -X POST https://www.cheap-pdf.com/generate-pdf-public \
-F "apikey=YOUR_API_KEY" \
-F "filename=page.pdf" \
-F "width=1280" \
-F "height=1600" \
-F "fileorhtmlorurl=https://example.com" \
-o response.jsonThe same field accepts a URL, raw HTML or an uploaded file. See the HTML to PDF API reference.

Access limitations
- Public pages only. Pages behind a login or paywall are not supported.
- No private or local addresses.
localhost, internal hostnames and private IP ranges are blocked. To convert a page from your own network, send its HTML instead. - Sites can block automated access. If the site refuses the request, the PDF may show an error or blocked page.
- JavaScript-heavy pages. The page is rendered by a browser engine, but we do not guarantee that every script-driven page finishes loading before it is captured.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Why it happens | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| “We could not resolve that hostname” | A typo, or the domain does not exist yet | Check the spelling and open the address in your own browser first. |
| “That address is not publicly reachable” | The URL points to localhost or a private network | Use a public address, or paste the page’s HTML into the HTML converter. |
| The PDF shows a login or cookie page | The page needs authentication or consent | Use a public version of the page, or convert saved HTML. |
| Redirects to the wrong page | The site redirects by region, device or consent | Use the final URL after redirects. |
| Layout looks mobile or cramped | The width is too narrow | Increase the width to 1280 px or more. |
| Images or content are missing | Content loads late or is lazy-loaded | Try again, or save the rendered HTML and convert that. |
URL to PDF FAQ
How do I convert a web page to PDF?
Enter a public http or https address in the converter above, set the page size if needed, and select Convert URL to PDF. When it finishes, download the PDF.
Can I convert a page that needs a login?
No. Only publicly accessible pages are supported. Render the page to HTML on your own server and send the HTML to the converter or API instead.
Can I convert localhost or an internal site?
No. Localhost, internal hostnames and private IP addresses are blocked. This protects against requests to internal networks.
Is it free?
The web converter can be used without an account. The API has a free plan with 10 conversions per day.
Can I do this from code?
Yes. Send the URL in the fileorhtmlorurl field of the API. See the HTML to PDF API page for the full request and response.
